Watched Basquiat ALL weekend for inspiration...

So many facets to this young man, in a life that ended all too soon. Many a great artist, share his sad fate. I hate those cliche' statements like, "they were born in the wrong era", or "a century too late". It is Bull-Hockey! We are right where we are supposed to be, and right when we are supposed to be there. To me the inspiring part of his story is that he kept going, when no body believed in him. Even girls lost interest in taking care of him, because they viewed his ways as lazy, and that he had no ambitions???? He worked even as parties went on around him, sometimes being inspired by these very events. Some of his works were thoughts from years gone by, triggered by some recent event. At times, he worked in Armani suits! He was definitely a free spirit, but he was more ambitious than most people realize. Heroin is a difficult one to get along without, once you've become accustomed to using it. I'd say even more so, when your using it for inspiration. The critics would say his work was "Dead", whenever he wasn't using, and it spiraled out of control. What a profoundly saddening, yet profoundly inspiring story.
